Q: On this date in 1999, Monica Lewinsky’s book about her affair with Bill Clinton, Monica’s Story, went on sale in the U.S. Co-written with acclaimed British biographer Andrew Morton, Lewinsky was said to have received $500,000 for her cooperation with the writing of the book, which purportedly told her side of the story and addressed claims and assertions made by Clinton about their relationship that she disputed. Morton gained considerable attention and notoriety in the U.S. for his participation in the project, but he was already no stranger to high profile biographies. Name the member of the British royal family for whom Morton wrote a biography in 1992 that became an instant best-seller in the U.K. but also caused tremendous scandal and called attention for the first time to the dysfunction within the House of Windsor.
