Today In Music History: 11/22/16

I’m not really sure if these two ladies can sing but I love ’em, so they are getting Happy Birthdays from the DJ. Scarlett Johansson is 32 and Jamie Lee Curtis is 58. Little Steven” Van Zandt of E street fame is 66.

It was on this day in 1963 was the first time I ever saw my dad cry. The 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, was assassinated while riding in a motorcade in Dallas. He was 46.

Let’s jump to 1968, when The Beatles released their only double album, “The Beatles,” a/k/a “The White Album.” In 1987, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it #9 on their list of “The 100 Best Albums of the Last Twenty Years.”

One of the true great guitarists of all time embarked on a 149-date tour of North America and Europe on this day in 1986. I’m talking about Stevie Ray Vaughn and his group double trouble.

Since we featured the release of The Beatles “White Album” if we jump to this day in 1994, we have Prince releasing his 16th studio album, “The Black Album.”

And finally, on this day in 1995 “Toy Story,” featuring the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, to name a few, opened in U.S. and Canadian movie theaters. Pixar originally tried to cast Jim Carrey as Buzz Lightyear, but couldn’t afford his asking price.
