Today In Music History: 11/29/16

A big happy birthday to my man Felix Cavaliere, from the Young Rascals, he is a svelte 74 today.

Colorado Governor John Love declared it Rolling Stones Day in the state, on this day in 1965, as the Stones were set to perform at the Denver Coliseum.

Imagine working on the radio and having Elvis Presley call in a request a song. It happened on this day in 1966 when Elvis heard Tom Jones’ version of “Green Green Grass Of Home” on the radio. He called in and asked to hear it several more times.

The first commercially successful video game Pong was released by Atari on this day in 1972.

The guys that will be playing The Peabody in Daytona this Thursday night had their “Point of Know Return” album certified platinum on this day in 1977.

On this day in 1995 Sammy Hagar married his second wife, model Kari Karte. They have two children.

He was always my favorite Beatle. I loved him for his spirituality and the way his music reflected it. It was on this day in 2001 that we lost George Harrison. He died of lung cancer at age 58.
