Today In Music History: 12/05/16

Happy birthday to Goo Goo Dolls lead singer/guitarist John Rzeznik. He is 51 today and will be playing live with his band this Wednesday night at the House of Blues. Jim Messina is 69, Andy Kim (Rock Me Gently) is 70 and the immortal Little Richard turns 84 today.

I’m going way back today. It was on this day in 1791 that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died of undetermined causes at age 35.

In Indianapolis, on this day in 1961, Ray Charles was arrested for drug possession. I found this picture for the funny of it. He’s sitting with known weed smoker Willie Nelson.

In 1978, in Nashville, the Charlie Daniels Band recorded “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.”

On this day in 2002 Elton John made a guest appearance on “Will and Grace.”

Let’s jump to the next year (2003) when Gwyneth Paltrow married Coldplay singer Chris Martin.
