Today In Music History: 01/09/17

We have a plethora of musical birthdays today. Dave Matthews is turning 50, Crystal Gayle, 66, “Buster Poindexter,” 67, Jimmy Page, 73 and Joan Baez is 76.

It was on this day in 1963 that Charlie Watts joined a new band called the Rolling Stones.

On this day in 1967 “I’m A Believer” by the Monkees was the #1 song.

In 1979, K-Mart pulled Steve Martin’s “Let’s Get Small” album from their shelves for being in “bad taste.”

On this day in 1984, Van Halen released their sixth studio album, “1984.” “Jump” “Hot For Teacher” and “Panama” are some of the songs from that album.

Sting made a guest appearance on the “The Simpsons” on this day in 1992.

And in 2005, it was Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil marrying his fourth wife, Playboy Playmate Lia Gherardini, in a ceremony officiated by rapper-turned-minister, M.C. Hammer. They separated 5 years later.
