Today In Music History: 02/21/17

It’s an extremely thin day in the world of music history, but I did dig up a few tidbits. And, in case you’re wondering why I have a picture of Jennifer Love Hewitt, it’s her birthday and she is a singer. She released her first album when she was only 13.

On this day in 1964, Billy Joel joined the New York-based “British Invasion” cover band the Echoes.

In 1966, Elvis Presley began filming his 22nd movie, “Spinout.” In case you are wondering, “Viva Las Vegas” was his highest grossing film.

On this day in 1970, The Jackson 5 made their television debut on “American Bandstand,” performing “ABC” and “I Want You Back.”

Let’s jump to another first. It happened on this day in 1981, as Prince made his first appearance on “Saturday Night Live.”

And let’s jump all the way to this day in 1995. For the first time in seven years, Bruce Springsteen performed live with the E Street Band making the video for the song “Murder Incorporated.”
