“La La Land” Wins, Then Loses, Best Picture To “Moonlight”

In one of the most bizarre moments ever on the Academy Awards, the team behind La La Land took the Oscars stage after Faye Dunaway announced that they won Best Picture. It wasn’t revealed until the La La Land producers were wrapping up their thank yous that it was really Moonlight which won the Best Picture Award.

Presenters Dunaway and Bonnie and Clyde co-star Warren Beatty were there to celebrate that film’s 50th anniversary and to award Best Picture. Beatty opened the envelope but saw Emma Stone for La La Land in the envelope. Apparently not knowing what do do, he handed the envelope to Dunaway who announced that La La Land had won.

Watch the uncomfortable scene play out below as the La La Land team finds out they did not actually win.
