Former Orlando “Miss Pulse” To Compete On RuPaul’s Drag Race

When many of us hear the name Pulse Nightclub, we become somber, and think about that fateful night in June of last year that took 49 souls home to our maker. Sadly, “Pulse” has become known throughout the country, and even the world due to that unforgettable tragedy.

However, years before the tragic summer night, Pulse was a vibrant, happy gathering place for many people in the Central Florida area. Trinity Taylor is one of those patrons who remember the positive story-lines that prevailed just a few years ago. In fact, Trinity’s fondest memories are likely the fact that in 2011 she won “Miss Pulse”. Now, she hopes to create more constructive vibes for the iconic locale.

That’s because this season, indirectly Trinity will be representing Central Florida and in many people’s eyes, Pulse Nightclub as well on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Though at the time of the competition, Ms. Taylor says she wanted to win the title in order to get her name known throughout the area; once she won the crown, she bonded with the employees, patrons, and friends of the club. In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Taylor said, “I was trying to get bookings in Orlando. When I won Miss Pulse, I was booked there at least three weekends a month for a whole year. I got to know the staff and the patrons. Over the years, I continued to work there. It was a second home to me.”

Trinity went on to say, “The tragedy is obviously something we should never forget, but I have great, fun memories from Pulse. I have a lot of great memories with my gay family there.”

Pulse owner Barbara Poma told the paper, “We are proud of Trinity Taylor, a former Miss Pulse title holder, and wish her the best of luck on her new venture with ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race.’”

Though Taylor is undeniably the latest, she is certainly not the only Central Floridian to have appeared on the show representing for Pulse.  Tyra Sanchez won season two. Roxxxy Andrews, Detox and Coco Montrese were on season five and all-stars season two. Jade Jolie was also on season five. Ginger Minj was a season seven contestant as well as a contestant on all-stars season two.

The curtain goes up and the girls hit the runway for the first time this Friday, March 24th at 8pm on VH1. BTW, if you’re a Lady Gaga fan…she’ll also be appearing on the season premier show.

All the best to you Ms. Taylor…and girl…YOU BETTA WORK!
