Chaka Khan is turning 64 today and Cars front man Ric Ocasek turns 68.

We start Today in music history on this day in 1961, when  Elvis Presley recorded the great “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

Sly & the Family Stone were the guest performers on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” on this day in 1969.

In 1973, Paul McCartney & Wings released “My Love.”

“December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night)” by the 4 Seasons was the #1 song on this day in 1976.

Billy Joel married his “Uptown Girl” Christie Brinkley on this day in 1985. They had a daughter (Alexa Ray) in 1986 and divorced in 1994.

On this day in 1991, Elton John joined George Michael onstage at London’s Wembley Arena for a duet on Elton’s 1974 hit “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.” This “live” version was recorded, released as a single, and topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic the following December.

In 2002, ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill married actress Charleen McCrory.
