Do you remember the campy TV game show, “The Joker’s Wild?” Well, TBS is going to bring it back, and you won’t believe who the new host of the reboot will be, even after I tell you…. Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr …oh, sorry, you’d probably know him better by his stage name. Snoop Doggy Dogg! Yes, you heard right. He’s now going from a rapper, to a TV game show host.
The classic game show ran from from 1972 and in syndication from 1977-1991. It was hosted by a parade of game show veteran hosts like, Jack Barry (1972–84), Bill Cullen (1984–86), Jim Peck (substitute host, 1981–86), and finally Pat Finn (1990–91). Needless to say that Snoop doesn’t fit your normal game show host parameters, which should make it interesting. His mellow, slow paced delivery may need to be adjusted though to the fast paced world of game shows. That remains to be seen.
Ironically, Snoop said of the show, “I’m a huge fan of game shows and The Joker’s Wild was my favorite show growing up.” He continued, “It always matched the flavor and personality of Snoop Dogg! Me and the Snoopadelic team are excited to bring back the show and put my own personal touch on it. Get ready ya’ll, it’s gonna be a wild ride!” We suspect it will be.
TBS admits that the show will keep it’s signature giant slot machine, and says they’ll be adding “giant dice, playing cards, streetwise questions, and problem-solving,” to the mix.
TBS executive Michael Bloom says of Mr. Broadus, “When you hear the words ‘game show host,’ Snoop Dogg probably isn’t the first name to pop into your head,” he admits. Bloom continues, “But it turns out he is a great fit that brings passion to this game show with a laid-back vibe to the casino-inspired craziness surrounding him.”
I’m sure with Snoop Dogg, the ratings will be “high”.
Sorry, that was too easy…I couldn’t resist.
