It’s been one of the worst fires this year and it not only affected a neighborhood but our local girl scouts.
Camp Rangers were alerted to a brush fire at Horseshoe Lake on the far side of camp Mah-Kah-Wee April 8, 2017. Neighboring HOA and Rangers called 911. The fire consumed over 150 acres of the property.
Camp Mah-Kah-Wee is the Girl Scout of Citrus largest camping ground. The Girl Scouts use this camp ground for several year round events and much of the area, including cabins, were destroyed.
The Girl Scout’s are holding “RALLY4MKW Kick Off Event” this Saturday, May 20th from 5 pm to 8 pm. for food trucks, trailer tours of the damaged areas and appreciation ceremony for first responders. Can’t make it no worries you can donate online right here.
Help the Girl Scouts get their camping ground back after all they bring us delicious cookies each year! ~grace
