There are collector’s around the world who flock to any auction they find selling a piece of Elvis Presley history.

A lot of Elvis’ personal items have been sold over the years at auction. However, this may be the “biggest” item ever to hit the auction block. is auctioning off a private jet once owned by Elvis and his father Vernon Presley.

The jet has sat on a runway in New Mexico for 30 years now. However, it was featured once, long ago, on a National Georgraphic Channel program.

It’s a 1962 Lockheed Jetstar with a red velvet interior with matching red shag carpet, that is said to have been designed by Elvis himself. Though it has no engines and Live Auctioneers admits that it needs a restoration job of it’s cockpit, they feet that it will still fetch a pretty penny.

The auction site says, “This jet has the potential of being fully restored, and placed on exhibit for the world to come see,” and it’s expected that someone will buy it at auction, and do just that. Display it for The King’s fans to see. After all, a generation and a half have not seen it.

Roswell International Air Center (in Roswell, New Mexico) Interim Director Scott Stark said that the plane is currently privately owned and was rarely open for anyone to see. “It’s been five or six years since there have been any tours of it,” Stark said.

The place is scheduled to be auctioned off on May 27th of this year by GWS Auctions, Inc of California, according to their web site. There will also be other celebrity memorabilia sold, including handwritten notes from The Beach Boys and lost photos of the late R&B singer Aaliyah.

This wasn’t Elvis’ only plane though, the Lisa Marie plane, can still be seen at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. believes that Elvis’ plane is valued somewhere between $2 million and $3.5 million.

By the way…just for the record…no personal checks.
