Happy Birthday to Sir Tom Jones, who is 77 today.

On just the second date of their first U.S. tour, the Rolling Stones were booed off the stage, on this day in 1964, in San Antonio, Texas. A troupe of performing seals were brought back out for the unappreciative audience.

On this day in 1969, Blind Faith gave their only live stage performance, a free concert for a crowd estimated to be of at least 120,000 people. Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker and Rick Gretch produced just one album together.

Tommy James and the Shondells released “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” on this day in 1969.

We jump to 1979, when rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry was charged with three counts of tax evasion. He pled guilty and was sentenced to four months imprisonment and 1,000 hours of community service (doing benefit concerts).
