Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey is known for his controversial but effective videos. His latest encourages citizens to arm themselves because “we’re in a different time and you have to be prepared to the first line of defense.”

Sheriff Ivey posted a video on the Brevard County website and Facebook page with the “4 A’s:” Awareness, Avoidance, Arm and Attack, as well as a course on self-defense through tactical shooting and decision making.”

Ivey said he would like citizens to be ready to “respond rather than react.” However, if you’re not someone who’s comfortable carrying a gun, or don’t believe you would be comfortable defending your life then look for an alternative solution, like pepper spray, stun guns or other weapons.

I feel lucky to call Sheriff Ivey a friend and he has done so much for his community. I totally agree with him its best to be prepared especially after what we as a community have gone through as we come up with the one year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting.
