Yesterday Was The 8th Anniversary Of Michael Jackson’s Passing

By Paco Lopez

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 8 years since we got the news that Michael Jackson passed away.

The King of Pop passed away in his Los Angeles home after suffering a heart attack.

Surviving members of Jackson’s famous family remembered via live performances on social media.

The remaining Jackson brothers began what would become a worldwide sensation, and spawn what would arguably be one of the most recognized performers in music history in the name of Michael himself.

They began singing as a family in 1964…and this past weekend, on Saturday, they sang again as a family at the Glastonbury Festival in England in his remembrance.

While on stage, the family dedicated two songs to Michael, “I’ll be there” and “Gone too soon.”

Before going on stage, Jermaine tweeted, “We’ll be 4 brothers on stage joined by Michael in spirit.” He went on to say, “Through the music we made together, we find comfort in memories, esp[ecially] this weekend.”

Michael’s sister LaToya also remembered him in a tweet of her own.

Michael Jackson’s official Facebook page, which is run by his estate, also remembered the music icon.

“While our hearts remain heavy over the passing of Michael Jackson eight years ago, we take solace in the timelessness of his music and his message,” the note began.

“‘When I create my music, I feel like an instrument of nature,’ Michael once said. ‘I wonder what delight nature must feel when we open our hearts and express our God-given talents,'” the message continued.

“For a planet in desperate need of open hearts and compassionate minds, we continue to seek joy and fulfillment in the music and entertainment he shared with us — and express hope that Michael’s message may someday ‘heal the world,’ as he tirelessly strove to do,” it concluded.

Sad to see another one of our music legends, gone too soon.

Michael Jackson was 50.
