We start on this day in 1968, at Abbey Road Studios in London, the Beatles recorded “Good Night” for their “White Album.” It was John Lennon’s lullaby for his 5-year-old son Julian, with Ringo taking the lead vocal.

The Kinks released “Lola” on this day in 1970.

Speaking of releases, it was on this day in 1974, that Paul McCartney & Wings released “Band on the Run.”

The Eagles started a five-week run at No.1 on this day in 1975 with the album ‘One Of These Nights’. The album which became their breakthrough album with three Top 10 singles, ‘Lyin’ Eyes’, (which won a Grammy), ‘Take It To The Limit’ and the title track.

On this day in 1980, Paul McCartney’s “Coming Up” hit #1, making it one of the few live recordings to hit the top spot on the charts. 

And finally, on this day in 1986, Wham! gave a farewell concert at Wembley Stadium. Elton John made a guest appearance to sing “Candle In The Wind” with George Michael.
