When Vanilla Ice released his smash hit “Ice, Ice Baby” it was apparent to most that the song was based on the Queen/David Bowie song “Under Pressure.” That didn’t stop Vanilla Ice, aka Rob Van Winkle from denying it though.
It all led to a law suit, where Vanilla Ice claims instead of paying damages in a lawsuit he ended up buying the song. At least that’s what he told Dan Patrick in a recent interview.
Ultimate Classic Rock however says that a spokesman for Queen has deemed Ice’s statement inaccurate. “An arrangement was made whereby the publishing in the song was shared.”
Hear what Ice had to say about the song in the interview with Dan Patrick and then take a listen to both of them below.
