Happy National Hot Dog Day! Yippee! In saying that what’s with the outrage of putting ketchup on your hot dogs? I do! Well, apparently this only affects Chicagoans.
The Chicago Tribune writes “Heinz today released a “new” product called ‘Chicago Dog Sauce’ that looks suspiciously like, gasp, ketchup. The audacity!” And while the city has long held an anti-ketchup-on-a-hotdog stance, this sauce is “made with red ripe tomatoes and a special blend of spices and flavorings,” according to a press release.
In hopes to promote the ‘sauce” Heinz–National Hot Dog Day– the company is offering up free hot dogs topped with the product at two locations, sadly its exclusive to Chicago. Booo. Okay now I’m upset with Heinz too! However, if you want to try the ‘Chicago Dog Sauce’ you can get your order at www.chicagodogsauce.com .
In the meantime, here’s a list of places you can enjoy some great deals or free hot dogs! Yummy. ~grace
