Lot’s of releases and recordings Today in Music History……..

Let’s start on this day in 1966, when the Monkees recorded “Last Train To Clarksville.” It was their debut single with Micky Dolenz on lead vocals and hit #1 in November.

On this day in 1970, Creedence Clearwater Revival released their fifth studio album, “Cosmo’s Factory.” The album featured two songs that got to #2 on the charts and one that got to #4. The album has sold over 10 million copies world wide.

The Doobie Brothers released “China Grove” on this day in 1973. It peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The #1 song on this day in 1975 belonged to Van McCoy, who was doin’ “The Hustle.”

It’s definitely one of the greatest debut albums ever and it was released on this day in 1976. I speak of the band Boston. The album has sold over 30 million copies world-wide and is a staple on great radio stations like ours.

Speaking of great albums, we jump to this day in 1980, when AC/DC released “Back in Black.” It was their first album with new lead vocalist Brian Johnson. The album sold over 22 million copies here in the U.S. alone. AC/DC is considered the biggest selling hard rock band of all time with sales over 250 million world wide.

And finally it was maybe the worst rendition of the U.S. National Anthem ever. It happened on this day in 1990, when Rosanne Barr attempted to sing her version before a San Diego Padres baseball game. She was roundly booed for her performance.
