First vinyl and now cassettes? Somebody pinch me!
According to reports, cassettes have quietly been making a comeback. Last year there were about 25 artist that sold their music on the dearly loved tape of days past. And while the number is minuscule that number actually increased from the year before.
We could probably thank Star Lord for the sudden interests in cassettes. The bestselling cassette of 2016 was the Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack, which sold about 4,000 copies.
Last year’s numbers were a repeat from 2015 when the title shifted approximately the same number throughout the year. Other successful titles that sold well in 2016 include Eminem’s The Slim Shady LP and Prince and the Revolution’s legendary Purple Rain.
So now the question is, do I hold on to my cassettes or sell them and make some quick cashola! Decisions! ~grace
