So MTV says this year their award show is going “gender neutral.”

MTV has announced the nominees for the 2017 Video Music Awards, eliminating the gendered categories and making one category in artist of the year.

MTV general manager Amy Doyle told the Hollywood Reporter: “Great acting is great acting, no matter what the gender or non-gender. And it really is reflective about the audience’s views and when you look at the culture as a whole, you had a man against a woman running for president [last year]. It just felt like a dated construct for a category.” Hmm, that’s very telling. I’m thinking someone is still upset their candidate didn’t win but I digress.

If MTV is getting rid of gender for their awards then I’m assuming next they’ll exclude genre because you don’t want to offend someone who may be in a less popular genre category right? So what’s left for the award show? Whatever category they have left let’s just hand out trophy’s for everyone and call it a day!

Wow I think MTV may have finally made themselves obsolete. ~grace
