‘The Munsters’ Getting Brooklyn Reboot

By Brad Haynes

The Munsters is that 60s sitcom that, like lead female character Lily Munster, simply refuses to die.

Deadline is reporting that NBC is putting the half-hour sitcom, from Jill Kargman of Odd Mom Out and Seth Meyers, on their schedule for next year.

While the original show, which ran on CBS from 1964-1966, was set in California (1313 Mockingbird Lane anyone???) the new show will be set in hipster Brooklyn as the scary family tries to fit into their surroundings.

Several years ago, NBC had an hour-long show from Bryan Fuller, but ended up passing on it after the pilot. The pilot was eventually aired as a Halloween special. It starred Jerry O’Connell as Herman and Portia de Rossi as Lily.

The family had earlier been revived as a syndicated show, The Munsters Today, running from 1988-1991 and starring John Schuck as Herman and Lee Meriwether as Lily.
