Today I told you all that an optometrist warned that welding goggles would NOT be sufficient for eclipse viewing. According to a welder who listens and called in, this is not exactly true. If the goggles or face mask is rated at LEAST 12 then it should be good for viewing. 13 or 14 “shade” ratings will be so dark you might not be able to see much.
However, given that one guy in Clermont is selling paper glasses he purchased in bulk on Amazon for TWENTY BUCKS apiece, I’m thinking welding glasses/shields might be a bit pricey given the eclipse craze.
