300-Pound Turtle Rescued Off SRA1A

By Grace Vasquez

Living in Florida we see a lot of beautiful indigenous animals from deer, opossums, fox, variety birds, alligators and turtles…lots of turtles!

Wild Florida Rescue and Patrick Air Force Base said a 300-pound green sea turtle crawled over the dunes and through a field across from Patrick Air Force Base before trying to cross SRA1A.

A motorist called 911 to report this big guy crossing the road in hopes he could be rescued before being injured. Whew! I love that!

Air Force officers, firefighters and members of the Wild Florida, together were able to get the 300 pound turtle back to the beach. My heroes! ~grace
