We all are still watching in disbelief the epic flooding going on in the Houston area due to Hurricane Harvey. It makes your heart break to see all the displaced people while at the same time, makes you proud seeing how Texans and others in nearby cities and states selflessly helping others tirelessly. Leading the way in aide are first responders.
The Houston Police have gone above and beyond the call of duty while tragically losing one of their own earlier this week, Sgt. Steve Perez. Sgt. Perez was on his way to work when his vehicle got caught in a flooded area.
The police continue to work with heavy hearts helping their community knowing they too have probably lost their homes and hope their family and friends are safe. So the Houston Police Officer’s Union took to FACEBOOK to ask for help themselves. The post reads:
“Please HELP…our officers are in desperate need of socks, undershirts, and underwear (men’s and woman’s). If you are in the Houston area and you can pick some up, please drop them off at your closest police station or you can drop them off at the Union Hall at 1602 State St and we will distribute.
“We know this is an extremely difficult time for everyone but if you could assist us right now, we would be eternally grateful. Thank you Houston, you have been so generous already.
“Somehow the words thank you don’t seem like enough.”
Please forward this to others especially if you have friends and family in the Houston area. Thank you. God Bless all our police. ~grace
