When I first moved to Orlando from my home town in Texas, a border desert city, I was amazed at all the wild animals that were here! I honestly didn’t think that really existed in cities like Orlando. I’m so happy I was wrong!
I love animals and our little creatures are just too precious and we have to find a way to always care for them.
I met a woman as I was shopping for my doggies food and noticed her carrying a back pack in front. OMG! I saw these teeny tiny hands pop out and then this adorable little face. It was a baby raccoon! She rescued her when she was a newborn and is still suckling at four months old. I was able to hold Scouts little hands (they felt soft and almost like rubber) and she took a little nibble of my hand but it tickled, she wasn’t trying to bite me.
I asked her what she was going to do with her once Scout got older and she wasn’t sure. I so admire people who rescue wildlife. You have a special heart!
My hubby and I came across a great organization when we found a baby possum orphaned and injured in our front yard. We called Back To Nature Wildlife Refuge. They are an amazing organization that functions by donations and volunteers who just love animals and want to care for them. They took in this baby possum and help rehabilitate her, release back into an area that would be appropriate and safe.
They have a variety of animals at any time and some are lifers! Back To Nature Wildlife holds fundraisers all year round like the 3rd Annual Wine for Wildlife September 28th and many fun family events like the one coming up October 28th for Halloween, 3rd Annual Owloween!
Please consider donating to such a great organization, and dare I say it? Right here, in our own backyard!
And to all of you who care for animals, thank you and God Bless you. You are inspiring! ~grace
