To stay competitive with the online sales Nordstrom’s is trying something new and daring: a store with no merchandise. What?
The new concept opens its doors next month in California. Execs say the new store called, Nordstrom Local, will ” offer shoppers personal stylists to help pick out clothing and accessories, dressing rooms to try them on, online ordering, and services, such as alterations, manicures, wine and beer and hand-delivery of items to customers’ cars.”
The higher ups say the point behind the new store is “keep shoppers from feeling overwhelmed by too much choice…It can mean trusting an expert to pick out a selection of items.” Yeah, heaven forbid we actually have to think and choose for ourselves right?
I understand the convenience of online shopping but I like to feel and try on the clothes I’m buying. Plus, my body is not like a mannequin; it has imperfections that some clothes just don’t fit well or look right on me. Hey but I’m all about sipping some wine while getting a manicure! ~grace
