I remember this episode of “Saturday Night Live” so vividly. It was on this day in 1976, that John Belushi, came out on stage with Joe Cocker, as Joe Cocker and sang some songs with him.

On this day in 1979 “Sad Eyes” by Robert John was the #1 song.

On this day in 1982, “Jack And Diane” hits #1 in America. It stays there for four weeks and is John Mellencamp’s only #1 song. He’s had some #2’s but no other number ones.

Madonna releases the video for “Erotica” on this day in 1992, featuring footage from the making of her Sex book.

On this day in 1995,  (What’s the Story?) Morning Glory is released, and goes on to make worldwide stars of the British rock band Oasis. The epic “Champagne Supernova” – exclusively released as a single in the US – goes on to reach #1 on the Modern Rock chart.

Matchbox 20 singer Rob Thomas married model Marisol Maldonado on this day in 1999. She is the lady in the video for the song “Smooth” and they are still together.

Happy birthday wishes going out to Sting, Robbie Nevil, Mike Rutherford of Genesis and Don Mclean.
