Today In Music History: 11/01/17

Let’s start on this day in 1960, when Elvis Presley releases the song “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”

Nine years later to the day Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” hits #1.

Elton John’s “Island Girl” hits #1 in America for the first of three weeks, on this day in 1975. It was Sir Elton’s 5th No.1 here in the states.

On this day in 1985, The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) agrees to the parental advisory sticker on albums that contain explicit or offensive lyrics. Most record companies go with the labels, which don’t seem to hurt sales.

Let’s roll to this day in 1986. Playing a character named Cinnamon, Stacey Q performs her song “Two of Hearts” on an episode of ” The Facts of Life.”

On this day in 1994, Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged in New York album, taken from a performance a year earlier, is finally released. The album tops the charts in many countries, including the US, UK and Australia.
