Today In Music History: 11/08/17

On this day in 1967, Harry Nilsson recorded “Everybody’s Talkin’.”

“Hey Jude” by the Beatles was the #1 song on this day the very next year (1968.)

We jump to this day in 1971. Led Zeppelin released their untitled album later known as “Led Zeppelin IV.” This is the album with “Stairway To Heaven” and “Black Dog” just to name a couple and has sold more than 35 million albums world wide.

David Bowie made his U.S. television debut, on this day in 1975 singing “Fame,” on the “Cher” show.

At the time, she was just the sister of the Fonz’s girlfriend to me. It was on this day in 1977, that Suzi Quatro makes her first appearance as Leather Tuscadero on Happy Days.

 

On this day in 1986 “Amanda” by Boston hits #1 here in America for the first of two weeks. It’s the band’s only chart-topper. Meanwhile over in the UK, it was the love them from “Top Gun” starting a four week run at #1. “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

And finally, it was on this day in 2011, that lovely Shakira received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
