It didn’t fetch as much at auction as the recent Prince Teal electric that went under the hammer. Nor did it make as much as the one he played at the Newport Jazz Festival (pictured) which garnered close to a million in 2013.
The 1963 Martin D-28 once owned by Dylan in the ’60s and ’70s was sold by Heritage Auctions on Saturday (11/11).
Dylan bought the guitar in 1967, most notably using the instrument during his entire set at George Harrison’s Concert for Bangladesh in 1971.
It was expected to get $300,000 – it got nearly $400,000 ($396,000). They do know you can get a new guitar for much less, right? As a matter of fact check out this one for less than 10%… 😉
