On this day in 1968, B.J. Thomas released the song “Hooked On A Feeling.” It peaked at #5 on the charts, a later version done by Swedish group Blue Swede hit #1 in 1974.

Speaking of 1974, it was on this day, that year, that Stevie Wonder released the song “Boogie On Reggae Woman.” In addition to supplying the lead vocal, Wonder plays every instrument on the song, except the congas.

On this day in 1979, he released the holiday single “Wonderful Christmastime.” Because he wrote, published, and played all the instruments on the recording, McCartney’s royalties add up. It is estimated that Sir Paul makes about $400,000 per year from the song.

Let’s roll to 1985, Starship started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart, with “We Built This City.” 

Singer Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet were married on this day in 1987, which happened to be her 20th birthday. They divorced in 1993 and Miss Bonet hits the big 5-oh this year.

On this day in 2002, Texan billionaire David Bonderman hired The Rolling Stones to play at his 60th birthday party held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. The band’s fee was $6 million.
