Happy Black Friday!! I haven’t spent one penny today and I am proud.
Let’s start on this day in 1965, the Young Rascals began recording the immortal “Good Lovin.'”
On this day in 1969 “Something” by the Beatles was the #1 song. It happens to be my favorite Beatles song not written by Paul or John. It was actually the second song that George had written for Pattie Boyd. The first was “I Need You,” a tune from the Help! album.
On this day in 1984, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee got married to Elaine Margaret Starchuk, a professional nude model, who works under the name Candice. The marriage lasted one month.
He may have been the greatest singer ever, at least vocally. It was on this day in 1991, that we lost the incomparable Freddie Mercury, lead vocalist of Queen, at the age of 45.
If you were a fan of dance music from the 90’s, you undoubtedly were a fan of the group La Bouche. It was on this day in 2001, that we lost their lead singer Melanie Thornton in a plane crash near Zurich, Switzerland, at age 34.
And since we just had another “Dancing with the Stars” champion crowned, I take you back to this day in 2009, when it was Donny Osmond taking home the Mirrorball Trophy.
