I have one photo of Santa and me and I was 6 years old. If my memory serves me we took that photo at some local store and knowing my frugal mom, I’m sure the cost was really cheap! That’s not a slam against my mom either; she was a genius in making a dollar stretch and since the apple doesn’t fall from tree, I’m not sure I would be willing to pay $300 for a photo of my kids with Santa.
According to a blog on Moneyish.com gone are the a polaroid days now parents have to make “reservations, tickets and credit cards are often required before one can gain access to Santa’s lap.” Now depending on the city, pics with the jolly round guy can get ridiculously expensive.
In Los Angeles, at one “Santa photoshop” photo packages begin at $40 which include emailed images, but if printed images are what you’re after, prepare to pay $60 for one 5×7 and two 3×5 photos. Okay, still some what affordable I guess. Now head north and watch out!
In New York City, one photographer “occupies an Upper West Side studio and for $135, one receives two high-resolution images with a print release included. A closet of holiday themed props is available for use, but minor retouching on images costs $325 and all that plus 50 holiday cards and envelopes runs $500.” HOLY TOLEDO!
Hmm, anyone else see a quick way to make some side cash? Affordable Santa pics what a concept! ~grace
