On this day in 1973, Paul McCartney released his third Wings album, “Band on the Run.” It was the last McCartney album issued on the Apple Records label. McCartney went into the studio with just his wife Linda and Denny Laine, doubling on drums, percussion and most of the lead guitar parts himself, as well as bass.

At Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, it was on this day in 1978, that the Charlie Daniels Band recorded “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.”

We jump to this day in 1987, when Belinda Carlisle went No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’, it was her first solo No.1, and also a No.1 in the UK. The video features an appearance from Carlisle’s husband Morgan Mason. They are still together.

On this day in 1993, Gin Blossoms guitarist and co-founder Doug Hopkins committed suicide at age 32. Hopkins was actually fired from the group before the release of their debut album, New Miserable Experience, but two of the more well known songs off the album, “Hey Jealousy” and “Found Out About You,” were songs he wrote.

Elton John made a guest appearance on “Will and Grace,” on this day in 2002.

On this day in 2003, it was wedding bells ringing for Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and actress Gwyneth Paltrow, a year after meeting backstage at one of his concerts. They got divorced last year.

And who is the Grammy queen? On this day in 2014, Beyoncé, with a total of 47 at that point, became the most Grammy-nominated female recording artist in history. She now has 63 nominations.
