Happy New Year!!

On this day in 1964, The Beach Boys begin the new year with a 7-hour session at Western Recorders in Hollywood, where they record “Fun, Fun, Fun” and “The Warmth Of The Sun.”

The Golliwogs, from Berkeley College, officially changed their name to Creedence Clearwater Revival on this day in 1968.

On this day in 1972, Three Dog Night becomes the first rock band to ride on a float in the Rose Bowl parade. “Joy To The World” blares out of the speakers on the float during the parade.

1975 Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham officially join Fleetwood Mac, on this day in 1975. The first two songs they contribute to the group are “Rhiannon” and “Landslide.”

It was their last live concert appearance and it happened on this day in 1982, as ABBA performed for the final time as a group in Sweden.

And finally, on this day in 1993, Elton John cracks the Top 40 with “The Last Song,” making it 23 consecutive years he’s had a song on the charts. It breaks Elvis Presley’s previous record of 22.
