On this day in 1966, my favorite Beatle’s album hits #1. Rubber Soul stayed in the top spot for 7 weeks and on the chart for an entire year.

On this day in 1974, KISS signed their first record deal.

“You Don’t Have To Be A Star” by Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr. was the #1 song, on this day in 1977.

In 1979, the rock band Rush, was named the country’s official “Ambassadors of Music,” by the Canadian government.

Elvis Presley Day was declared in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia on this day in 1981.

We jump ahead 10 years to this day in 1991, when Steve Clark, guitarist of Def Leppard, died of a lethal combination of alcohol and drugs at age 30. He was replaced by Vivian Campbell, who had played with Dio and Whitesnake.

Elvis and David Bowie shared this day as a birthday. Robbie Krieger from The Doors, turns 72 today and Mike Reno of Loverboy is 63.
