Ike & Tina Turner performed “Proud Mary” on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” on this day in 1970.

On this day in 1985, Queen, Rod Stewart, AC/DC and Whitesnake play at the first Rock In Rio festival.

On this day in 1986 “West End Girls” by the Pet Shop Boys hits #1.

And it was on this day in 1992, that Nirvana appeared as the musical guests on “Saturday Night Live,” treating the audience to “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and this song right here.
