When I fly home to Texas I love to take the earliest flight possible so I definitely order some coffee once I get settled in on the plane but after reading this, I may think twice.
Vice.com did a blog “Ten Questions You Always Wanted to Ask a Flight Attendant” and among them was a question regarding airline coffee. The answer was not what I expected and to make it even more credible, the accusation has been made by other attendants over the years, “Don’t drink the coffee on airplanes. It’s the same potable water that goes through the bathroom system.” What?
Here was the question:
Besides the bathrooms, what’s the grossest thing on planes that we don’t hear about?
Coffee. Don’t drink the coffee on airplanes. It’s the same potable water that goes through the bathroom system We recently had a test for E. coli in our water and it didn’t pass, and then maintenance came on and hit a couple buttons and it passed. So, avoid any hot water or tea. Bottled and ice is fine, of course.
OMG! Yuck. Note to self: Bring on board your own coffee! ~grace
