Are you one of these persons who dread each year the time change? Well, good news, that may soon be a thing of the past for Floridians!

A bill promoting making Daylight Saving Time permanent in the Sunshine State. The bill is making it’s way through the Florida legislature getting a green light from the House panel yesterday. The approvedĀ bill (HB 1013) sponsored by Rep. Jeanette Nunez and the legislation is now heading to the full House.

Nunez believes the change in time would boost the economy at the same time not disrupt students school year.

The Senate has amended their bill to match the House bill. Originally, the Senate bill would have forced all of the state to fall into the Eastern time zone. Currently, only our neighbors in the northwest of the state are in Central time zone.

The bill has to go through a couple of more votes before it heads to Governors Scott desk for signing and Congress would need to amend existing federal law to allow the change.

Then, The Sunshine State will really be all about fun in the sun! ~grace
