We all daydream about that one sweet job we’d do free! I think this Bahama resort may have added a job to that elusive dream job list!
Luxury hotel called Baha Mar in Nassau – which cost over $3 billion to build – is hiring someone to hang out with its flamingos. Wait, what? My job would be to just hang out with their flamingos? Well, there’s a little more to it than that.
It’s a real job with a real title and real duties. The Chief Flamingo Officer will be in charge of a new flock of the birds which will arrive at the hotel in March. There are some requirements:
- A degree in zoology or a related field, as well as strong people skills.
- Have knowledge about flamingos to teach resort guests about birds .
If you are hired, you will work closely with the resort’s Chief Scientist, Vanessa Haley-Benjamin. The Chief Scientist’s job is to preserve and protect wildlife at the hotel. Baha Mar has its own sanctuary, housing turtles and nurse sharks.
Flamingo selfie has to happen at the flamingo beach. I must say the flamingo wasn't half as excited as me, but even smiled in one photo 😉 If you're heading to #Aruba and want to see these cuties, remember that they live on a private island of @renaruba . Non-guests can buy day passes, but ONLY if the hotel isn't fully booked. So you can't buy these passes in advance. When I was there my friends couldn't see the flamingos because they were staying elsewhere. So I recommend booking this hotel to avoid disappointments 😊 P.S. These flamingos aren't held in captivity. They came to the island on their own and live there in mangroves – their natural environment. #renaruba #businessunusual
So get your resume’s ready as the job will be open until February 28 – so you’ve got a couple of weeks to get your application in
Do you think you got what it takes to enjoy the Bahamian gorgeous climate and and care for the beautiful flamingos? If so, apply here and click on careers.
Tough gig. Dang, too bad my degree is in a different type of zoology, radio! ~grace
