On this day in 1973, “Crocodile Rock” by Elton John was the #1 song. It was John’s first #1 here in the states and his first million selling single. Speaking of Elton…..

Two years later (1975) Elton John and Bette Midler were the first guests on “The Cher Show,” Cher’s solo weekly television show on CBS. The series lasted for two seasons.

Ike Turner was sentenced to four years in prison, on this day in 1990, after being found guilty on eleven separate charges. During his incarceration, he and his ex-wife Tina Turner were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

On this day in 1996, Gavin Rossdale and his band Bush are on tour in New Orleans. Rossdale throws a big party and invites opening act No Doubt with hopes of hooking up with Gwen Stefani. His plan works perfectly, and they get married in 2002 and stayed together 13 years before they split.

And finally, in the spirit of  the Winter Olympics, we jump to this day in 2015, when Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea breaks his arm in five places in a gnarly snowboarding accident.
