On this day in 1966, Lou Christie, who was celebrating his 23rd birthday hit #1 with “Lightnin Strikes.”

Two big events on this day in 1972.

We’ll start with your #1 song, which was Nilsson’s “Without You.”¬† It held that spot for four weeks.

And then on the show “All In The Family,” Sammy Davis, Jr. made a memorable guest appearance during which he gave the show’s main character, Archie Bunker, a surprise kiss.

On this day in 1980, Ronald Belford¬† Scott, better known as “Bon” Scott, lead vocalist of AC/DC, died when he choked on his vomit after an all-night drinking binge. He was 33.

Phil Collins releases his debut solo album, Face Value, on this day in 1981. That’s the album famous for the now immortalized song “In The Air Tonight.” Even though that song is a world favorite now, it only reached #19 on the US singles chart.

Adding to his long list of crazy acts, it was on this day in 1982, that Ozzy Osbourne was arrested in San Antonio for urinating on the Alamo. Osbourne was wearing a dress at the time of his arrest, (due to his wife Sharon hiding all his clothes so he couldn’t go outside). Osbourne who apparently thought he was relieving himself on a pile of rubble was banned from ever playing in San Antonio, Texas again, (a ban which was lifted in 1992).

And finally, it was on this day in 1995, a mere four days after they met, that Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee married Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson on a beach in Cancun. The bride wore a white bikini and Tommy Lee was shirtless. They divorced in 1998.
