Each of the fifty United States has its own virtues and vices. For example, Vermont has the worst drug use problem. And Nevada is the most gambling-addicted. No! (Rolls eyes here).

But the cost of our sins is something we do share as a nation. Gambling costs the U.S. about $5 billion per year. And we lose over $300 billion per year due to smoking.

Harmful behavior on the individual level can add up to staggering economic costs on a national scale.

WalletHub compared the 50 states across 38 key indicators of immorality, and we placed pretty high up. Ranked number one – jealousy and vanity are pretty high on our list of vices. Well, we are beautiful. 😉
