I don’t know about you but I grew up told you play to win. Life is about striving to do your best. You practice, practice, practice to improve your game (whatever your game happens to be). The payoff? Success in winning! So why would you feel compelled to apologize for your hard work, dedication and victory?
Well one team had to apologize, well, their schools superintendent apologized for the girls basketball teams decisive win!
The girls basketball team at East Bridgewater High School won its playoff opener by a score of 93-7, CBS Boston reports.
However instead of congratulating the girls on their awesome victory, following the game, East Bridgewater Superintendent of Schools Elizabeth Legault apologized for the blowout win.
Legault clearly wasn’t comfortable with her team winning by such a ginormous score. “This is not a reflection of our student body or our athletic program,” Legault said, calling the win “an unfortunate situation.” Wait, “an unfortunate situation?” Your girls team just won!
The score was embarrassing and maybe that should have been a call for the coaces to make at the game but what if the other team was just that incompetent? Is it the team winnings fault?
Sorry but I call foul on this superintendent for not being supportive and proud of the GIRLS basketball victory. Yaay girls! Booo administrator! ~grace
