I may be dating myself, but one of the things my dad and I would always look forward to was seeing The Harlem Globetrotters. Names like Meadowlark, Geese and Curly will always be ingrained in my childhood with great times with my pops.

This past Saturday my little girl got the same treatment. The names have changed, but the show is still great, with a mixture of basketball, comedy and great antics. She had no idea what to expect (she hadn't even heard of them) and when the show started and they did their Globetrotter weave, she was all the sudden interested.

She watched and laughed and at half-time we went down to the swag table and got us some Harlem Globetrotter jerseys. She happened to be born on the 26th, so the number 26 is her favorite, and one of the current players has that number, so she got that jersey. I also got that number and showed Zoe a picture of me in high school wearing #26. That was my number in both football and basketball. Maybe it wasn't just a coincidence that my only child was born on the 26th.

We didn't sit in the best seats and she's not a big basketball fan, but she is for sure a Harlem Globetrotter fan. After the game was over and The Globetrotters won (barely), we spent the rest of the afternoon looking up old Globetrotter games on YouTube and laughing even more.

Prized times for sure. I think back to those fun afternoons with my dad and hope she will do the same.

Before I go, a big THANK YOU to the new edition of The Harlem Globetrotters. You guys and ladies carry the tradition well, and we will see you next time you come around.
