On this day in 1964, The Beatles set another music industry record, by having 14 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, including "Can't Buy Me Love" at #1.

Buffalo Springfield made their live stage debut at the Troubadour nightclub in Hollywood, on this day in 1966. The group only lasted 2 years, but gave us the groups Poco and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. They were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Ont this day in 1973, The Beach Boys appeared at the Omni Coliseum in Atlanta, Georgia, where fewer than 3,000 tickets had been sold for a venue with a capacity of 16,000. The only high point of the show was the performance of a still unknown Bruce Springsteen, who played a 60-minute set.

On this day in 1981,12 days before her 21st birthday, Valerie Bertinelli married Eddie Van Halen. The two had met eight months earlier when Bertinelli's brother took her to a Van Halen concert in Shreveport, Louisiana. The couple had one son (Wolfgang) and stayed together until 2001.

On this day in 2006, we lose June Pointer of The Pointer Sisters. She dies at age 52, after being hospitalized for a stroke and diagnosed with cancer.

And finally, it was on this day just last year, we lost lead guitarist and name sake of the J. Geils band at age 71. He had played on and off with the band until 2012. The group has been on the ballot for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame five times, but have not been voted in.
