Let's start on this day in 1980. Paul McCartney appears with wife Linda as the musical guests on "Saturday Night Live." They performe the song "Coming Up."

On this day in 1987, a fire destroys Tom Petty's house in Los Angeles, the cost was estimated at $800,000. It was determined by authorities to be arson. The perpetrator was never caught.

On this day in 1990 "Vogue" by Madonna was the #1 song. The song won three MTV Video Music Awards and hit #1 in 15 other countries.

 R.E.M. gave a free outdoor concert for an estimated 20,000 fans in downtown Toronto on this day in 2001.

I remember the episode well. It was on this day in 2010, that ZZ Top appeared on the TV show "Two And A Half Men."

And, it was on this day in 2012, that we lost the queen of disco, the incomparible Donna Summer. She won five Grammy Awards, sold over 140 million records, had 14 top ten singles and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. She passed away at 63 at her home in Naples, Florida.
