On this day in 1971, Paul Revere and the Raiders hit No.1 with the song "Indian Reservation." It would become the biggest selling single for Columbia Records at the time selling over 2 million copies.

The Manhattans' "Kiss And Say Goodbye" hit #1 on this day in 1976. It was the Billboard Hot 100's 400th #1 song. It also hit #1 on the R & B chart as well.

On this day in 1978, The Robert Stigwood film Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, featuring The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton ​hit theaters. The film received extremely negative reviews from most critics and barely broke even at the box office.

Speaking of movies, it was on this day in 1982, thanks to its use in the movie Rocky III, "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor hits #1 for the first of six weeks. Survivor also won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance for the song.

On this day in 1999, it was a rapper marrying two rappers. Reverend Run of Run-D.M.C. conducted the ceremony for Treach from Naughty by Nature and Pepa of Salt-N-Pepa. The couple managed to stay together for two years and they had one daughter, Egypt Jahnari Criss.
