On this day in 1971, James Taylor hit No.1 with the song "You've Got A Friend." The song was written by Carol King, but she never released her version as a single. The song would go on to win the 1971 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal male Performance and Song Of The Year.

On this day in 1976,  Orleans release "Still The One." The song would peak at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and be the theme of the ABC network in the late 70's.

It is widely beleived that it was on this day that we originally lost The Eagles. That were finishing up their Long Run tour in Long Beach, when during the concert, Glen Frey and Don Felder got into it on stage. Felder smashes his guitar at the end of the show and Frey quits. No official announcement is made by managment, so it's not until both Henley and Frey release solo projects that people know the Eagles are done.

And finally, it was on this day in 1999, that Christina Aguilera hit No.1 for the first time with "Genie In A Bottle." The song spent 5 weeks at No.1 and won Aguilera the Best New Artist Grammy for the year.
